Joe Hecker opened DIS in 1983 to help Veterinarians with their diagnostic imaging needs. Veterinary specialty Imaging products are limited and can be hard to find. When a product or device wasn’t available Joe would engineer one to fit the need. Examples are his Patented Dual Laser x-ray beam guide, which is now used on most portable xray units today. Joe also developed DIS exclusive line of Versa-View specialty products. One accessory product is the mobile All-In-one x-ray examination table that can be used by any practice type and can be operated in any facility location.
Joe started his career in medical imaging in 1976 right out of college. His first job was working as a sales/service medical imaging specialists and he worked for the company for 7 years before starting his own imaging business in 1983.
Joe was born in Dickinson, ND and grew up on a farm south of Belfield. When he was in grade school his family moved to Fargo, ND. In 1978 he moved to Rapid City, SD. Joe enjoys the milder climate, hiking, biking and the wonderful people. He has continued his education, computer classes, Microsoft advance software and Vet imaging software. He also, attended Specialty Seminars such as: Equine Dentistry and Product Importing/Exporting. Joe has also attended college at North Dakota State University, North Dakota State School of Science, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and Western Dakota Tech. His majors are Computer Technology, Electronics Technology, and Electronics Engineering.
Joe has attended and exhibited at over 100 Veterinary conferences, DIS has exhibited at approximately 1000 Veterinary conferences in the past 30 years. He has also lectured at many Veterinary conferences on a variety of imaging topics in the latest of Digital Imaging and its benefits.
DIS continues to grow by expanding its digital imaging modality offerings which include radiology, ultra-sound and patient monitors. Digital Radiology Imaging has become the imaging modality of choice, with most facilities upgrading to digital within the next few years. Digital imaging continues to improve image quality at a reduced cost with less procedure time and equipment down time.
