Is it time to replace your old film system? Look at the latest digital systems.
There is a difference on two major xray imaging systems, Digital or a time-consuming film system. Which is best for your practice? Digital and film systems use the x-rayed images into a film processor or on a digital computer. Today, I have a very different opinion about the latest CR technology due to its higher detail, lower cost, and its low digital repair cost.
Film based xray systems were time consuming to develop by hand manually or with a costly film processor, but it was the only way to take a film x-ray. CR technology came along and in has changed the face of x-ray. It allowed Vets to take images on a scanner plate and scan them quickly into a computer. The CR can be used on all stationary, as well as, portable xray units.
DR digital x-ray technology was introduced allowing Vets to take an image plate and have it immediately appear on the computer screen with no CR plate scanning required. The problem now does not relate to image speed, but the higher image usage cost. I don’t know very many Vets who are in a small practice that want to spend $35,000-$55,000 on a new DR digital x-ray system. A new CR scanner will cost anywhere from $15,000 to $18,000. CR plates are cheaper at a cost of $500. If you are currently using film then why not consider using the high detail low cost digital CR system.
Radiation is another issue with film verses digital. Digital will make your xray techniques easier and safer with less retakes. If you are looking for ways to save money without sacrificing image quality, spend some time doing your due diligence and see why replacing your film system with a CR scanner might be the best choice.
Sales reps will tell you that film verses CR increases income value in your practice. There has been, in my humble opinion, an x-ray unit, like CR, will increase income. Most owners will know the difference between a film and a new digital x-ray image. Your client is coming to see you and not your x-ray machine. But Income is generated by the higher care treatment you provide to your client and will increase your practice value.
There is absolutely no need to use any film system! Digital CR technology has rendered film obsolete. If you are ready to stop all the high film and processor costs and increased retakes, look at what the new DIS Samsung-designed, high detail, lowest cost digital CR can do for your practice!
