Even with scratching posts, we need help keeping our nails nice and trim. They can still get caught on things and we hate that! So ask your mom or dad (or another trusted grown-up) to keep them clipped. Only an adult should do this. Show the grown-up this card for directions.
First, they should gently press our paw so that the nail come out. They should be sure to cut only the clear tips. Don’t cut into the reddish-colored “quick” area, because it will injure the cat and cause bleeding.
Start when we are young. We’ll be scared, so maybe you can just pet us or hold our paw until we get used to it. If all else fails, take us to the vet.
